The last three weeks have seen Hog Roast Retford take on a slightly different shape for a lot of our catered events. While of course we are Hog Roast Retford: a roast pork and fine meat catering specialist, we have a lot of love for our vegan and veggie friends out there. During January, there is often a lot more of them too as many of us take on “Veganuary” (including some of the Hog Roast Retford team here. This is when people take the first month of the year to try either cut back on their meat consumption, or go fully vegetarian or even vegan for at least the full month of January. It coincides with other monthly trends, such as Dry January, where many of us take the first month of the year to try and refresh our lives for the better in one way or another.
Even as a roast meat specialist, the Hog Roast Retford team is fully behind Veganuary. We think it is excellent that people make such a conscious effort together for a month to try and better their lives with an eye on environmental protection, too. That is why when it has come to you January events, we have been so proud to offer a wholly different type of Hog Roast Retford dining experience to what you might typically expect from us. If you look at our menus you may find that there is a surprising amount of veggie and vegan options available. Often these are touted as “alternatives” however, but during Veganuary it is the hog roast that plays second fiddle to our main BBQ pulled jackfruit and assortment of delicious veggie and vegan skewers, salads, and side dishes!
We have a great time over the last three weeks prepping some truly incredible wholesale veggie and vegan menus for many events. Making such a drastic change in your diet can be challenging, especially when it comes to things like events where it may be easy to revert back for just one day only. But with our eye on providing as good as you get in our veggie and vegan menus as you would find in our more “typical” meaty menus, the challenge becomes just as delicious as the norm!
